【오늘의 한국어 이야기】 (Today's Korean story.)

This is my favorite show lately.
I laugh out a lot whenever I watch the show 'New journey to the west'.
After the filming of 'New journey to the west' season 4 is done, Jo kyu-hyun known as a member of Super junior has joined military service.
Normally before joining military service, Korean guys drink alcohol a lot.
Kyu-hyun seemed like drank a lot too that his face looks puffy in that video.
And he even got a nickname '조정뱅이'(Jojeongbang-i) in this show.
In Korea, we call a person who is too drunk to control himself as 'Jujeongbang-i).
Jojeongbang-i is a mixed word using the last name of Kyu-hyun 'Jo' and Jujeongbang-i.
Like his new nickname, he won the game to guess a name of soju brand after tasting a sip. Awesome! :)

요즘 제가 가장 재미있게 보고 있는 예능 프로그램 입니다.

신서유기를 보면서 정말 많이 웃었어요.

신서유기 시즌4가 끝나면 슈퍼주니어 조규현은 군대를 갑니다.

보통 한국 남자들은 군대에 가기 전에 친구들과 술을 많이 마십니다.

규현도 술을 많이 마셨는지 얼굴이 많이 부었네요.

게다가 '조정뱅이'라는 별명까지 생겼습니다.
술에 취해 말이나 행동이 정신 없는 사람을 주정뱅이라고 하는데
주정뱅이의 첫 자를 조규현의 '조'자로 바꾸어 '조정뱅이'라는 별명이 만들어졌습니다.
그래서인지 소주를 마시고 소주 브랜드를 맞추어 버리네요.
대단합니다. :)

I watched a Korean TV show 'Youn's kitchen' a couple of months ago and it was really fun.

This show was about Korean celebrities open and run a new restaurant in the Indonesian holiday place for a week.

When I was watching the show I could feel relaxed from the scene of the rest areas.

Recently, Koreans(especially young people) use neologisms a lot and people made up a new word 'Yumvely' in Youn's kitchen the tv show too.

Let's go to learn about what '윰블리' means now :)

저는 두 달 전에 한국 예능 '윤식당'을 굉장히 재밌게 봤습니다.

이 예능은 한국의 유명 배우들이 인도네시아의 휴양지에서 일주일 동안 식당을 운영하는 방송입니다.

휴양지의 여유로운 풍경에 제 마음도 편안해지는 것 같았습니다.

요즘 한국의 젊은 사람들은 신조어를 많이 사용합니다.

'윤식당'에서는 '윰블리'라는 신조어가 만들어졌습니다.

지금부터 '윰블리'가 어떤 뜻인지 알아볼까요?^^

【오늘의 한국어 공부 해설】 (Key patterns for Today's Korean learning.)

Young people in Korea make up a lot of new words by combining Korean words with English words.
'Yumvely' is one of those words.
'Yumvely' is a mixed word using Yumi(one of actresses in Yoon's Kitchen) and lovely. 'Yum' is from Yumi and 'vely' is from lovely. People who watched the TV show made up this new word as a nickname for the actress because they thought that Yumi is lovely.
You can call your friend's name as '~vely' too.
Here's another example word 'Nojam' and this is a new word which combines Korean words with English words too.
Jam is a short word for 'Jaemi'(재미) and it means fun. So when we say 'Nojam', it means it's not funny or fun.
Why don't you use these new words to your Korean friends today! This will help you to get closer with your Korean friends. But you don't want to use this neologisms to old Korean people or in a formal speech, because either they won't understand what you say or they will think that you are rude ;)

요즘 한국 젊은 사람들은 한국어와 영어를 결합한 신조어를 많이 사용합니다.
'윰블리'도 마찬가지 입니다.
'윤식당'에 출연한 배우 정유미의 사랑스러운 모습에 사람들은
'유미'에 'Lovely'를 결합하여 '유미vely'라는 말을 만들었고
이것을 줄여서 '윰vely' 즉, '윰블리'라는 별명을 지어주었습니다.
당신의 친구의 이름에 '~vely'를 사용하여 별명을 지어 줄 수도 있습니다.
또 다른 예로 '노잼'이라는 말도 한국어와 영어를 결합한 말입니다.
영어 'No'와 '재미있다.'라고 할 때의 '재미'를 결합하여
'재미없다.'라는 뜻의 '노잼'이 됩니다.
오늘 한국 친구들에게 이런 말들을 써보는 것은 어떨까요?
한국 친구들과 가까워지는데 도움이 될 것입니다.
하지만, 어른들이나 공적인 자리에서는 무례하게 느껴질 수 있으니 사용하면 안돼요. ;)
